Therapy is often sought out when people are looking for help to work through challenging times. To solve things on our own can be rewarding.  However, solving issues with aid from another, can not only help one through the issues, but it also opens up a world of feeling connected in life to others. People need someone to listen to their perspective, and be there for them.  An important axiom I’ve learned in my practice is that relationships are paramount to our living life well; through the good, the bad, and the in-between.  The therapeutic relationship between client and counselor is an important part of the healing process, which I encourage in our sessions together. Along with this factor I work to balance in an educational component on evidenced based therapy modals, techniques, and processes, so my clients will have a clear understanding on the directions we take together. I have found that clients appreciate when I share what I have learned from my studies and practice experience, and then being able to pass that on to them.

I obtained my degree from Rutgers University as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My therapy background training includes: working with adults in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient partial hospitals, individual therapy, and group therapy. I specialize in helping people work through issues of trauma, loss, anxiety, obsessive compulsions, depression, and conflictual relations. I am certified in the use of E.M.D.R. (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) a technique for trauma recovery, Solution Focus Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Exposure Response Prevention, Cognitive Behavioral techniques, and Psychoanalytic modals. I feel fortunate to have found out early in my adulthood that this profession was where I belonged, what I love to do, and look forward to sharing that enthusiasm with others.

Making the decision and commitment to work to make things better can be hard, but worthwhile! Let’s start where you are, and I can accompany you on a path of understanding and healing. If you want to become your best self, the therapeutic relationship can help you uncover what that means for you. We can work together to build skills and strategies.

Whether you’re experiencing difficulty adjusting to changes in life, losses, conflicts, trauma, chronic mental illness, or you’re not sure but you know you want something to be different, I look forward to working with you.  I have experience working with individuals, children and adolescents, groups, and families in different settings, including home, community, and outpatient care. I obtained my formal education at Centenary University with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, and a Master's degree in Social Work from Kean University. It would be my privilege to get to know and connect with you.

Challenges that exceed our current resources or skills are part of life, and at such times, it makes a difference to have the help and collaboration of an objective but caring and experienced ally.  As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I enjoy helping others and recognize that every person is unique, possessing inherent worth and pre-existing strengths and skills.  I meet each person with open, nonjudgmental curiosity and unconditional positive regard, ready to learn his or her preferences and experiences and collaborate for positive change.  My therapeutic approach is an eclectic one, built on a foundation of validating influences from Humanistic and strengths-based approaches and drawing from a large variety of evidence-based interventions, including but not limited to cognitive behavior therapy, dialectal behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic approaches, and mindfulness-based approaches such as EFT/”Tapping.”

I have worked with a diverse range of adults of all ages, adolescents, couples, and families.  This includes those facing ambivalence at a pivotal juncture in life, as well as those struggling with persistent struggles, such as depression or other mood disorders, OCD or anxiety disorders, ADHD and neurodevelopmental disorders, acute and complex trauma, addiction and codependency issues, grief, and loss, as well as issues related to adolescence, aging, women’s issues, and gender identity and transitions.  I have also benefited from past experiences working in a high school setting, intensive outpatient settings, and programs for those with co-occurring mental health and addiction needs. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Gettysburg College and my Master's in Social Work at Rutgers University. I continue to learn and incorporate new evidence-based treatment approaches.  I invite and value the feedback I receive from clients and use it to inform and optimize treatment outcomes, as one of the wonderful things about therapy is that the learning goes both ways!
